We all experience challenging times, and working with a counsellor can help positively address issues and move towards change or acceptance.

I provide counselling services to adult clients. My life experiences, which include my role as a school guidance counsellor, have resulted in the natural progression and career transition into adult counselling. Counselling allows clients to work alongside a therapist to clarify issues, identify patterns, explore options, develop healthy coping skills, and increase self-awareness. I enjoy working with people this way and feel privileged to walk with them on their personal journeys.

I am a member of the IACP (Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) and abide by their code of ethics. I have engaged with numerous CPD workshops for over 20 years to maintain and improve my knowledge, skills and competence and develop my professional practice. I am supervised as required by an IACP-accredited supervisor.

  • My approach to therapy is eclectic; however, person-centred therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) largely influence me. I believe growth and change occur when clients are given a safe, non-judgmental space to explore and process their issues. I use my training and experience to facilitate a client-led conversation. Clients are experts in the story of their own lives; my role is to guide this process. We will work through the various stages of counselling together, beginning by establishing our therapeutic relationship, then identifying and assessing presenting issues, setting counselling goals, and designing and implementing interventions. We will conclude our sessions by reviewing and planning ways to sustain and maintain progress.

The integrated model of counselling and psychotherapy combines a focus on specific, current symptoms and issues with awareness and a growing understanding of long-term issues, experiences and patterns.

  • I have a wide range of experience in many areas, including abuse (emotional, physical, sexual, neglect), stress and anxiety, bereavement and loss, childhood trauma, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem and personal development, and self-harm and suicidal ideation.

I am open to all topics and will inform the client if I feel limited in my ability to help them with a particular issue. In such cases, I will help the client to find more suitable support.

  • I aim to provide my clients with a safe, confidential, non-judgemental, and reliable service. In our introductory session, we will attempt to identify your reasons for attending counselling and get a sense of possible goals you would like to achieve from the therapy. I will also take some time to discuss how we plan to work together, our confidentiality agreement, appointment schedule, session fees and my cancellation policy.

  • My office is in Navan Education Centre, Co. Meath.

  • My cost per 1-hour session is €60.
